Thanks guys.... Got the 5.3L out... Boy it was a fight, but its out of the truck. Soon to be cleaned up and stored for backup, cause my wife is getting a Tahoe as well. The old 5.3 was carboned up really well. Im surprised it purred like that.

This is TOO good to be true almost.... Under the lq9 intake looks way cleaner as well as the runners are not carboned up like the 5.3. Ohmed out all the sensors and they work well, so they stay. I did change the oil pressure unit which melted some. Pulled all the plugs last night, and they are in way better condition than my 5.3. Checked them carefully, looks like Delco Iridiums, and the 5.3 looks like it had platinums. So Im even going to reuse the plugs that came in the lq9. I was astonished. I did change the wires with those from my 5.3.
Also got the alternator and powersteering switched over to the LQ9. Had to remove its powersteering cause I dont have hydroboost brakes. The Tahoe has a brake booster, and the sterring pumps are little different.
The Lq9 will be ready to drop into the truck once I clean up the intake and t-body, and switch the knocksenors on the top. Only cause they look a little acidic, which is a common problem I read. So Ill use some black RTV to seal it up after I swap those.
Im going to have to repoisiton my tranny, connect the rear driveshaft, and get the TQ converter back in it, after cleaning the engine bay really good. But made lots of progress yesterday. Ill post pics soon as I take some.

Well here goes guys, Ill try to be detail as possible, But it was a bear to get the engine out, install we be easier I forsee.. I may do a writeup if I get some time.
This is the 183k mile original engine from my 01 Tahoe 5.3 which purred like a kitty cat, no leaks, that were visible except for the water pump gasket was starting to drip.

Here is the 2004 escalade 75k mile LQ9 with its new accessories switched over, alternator and powersteering pump. Sensors, plugs, wires ready to go. I cant wait to drop it in, and get it buttoned up!

Here is my Drive by CABLE vs the cadillac & 03plus Drive by WIRE and return less fuel system. I need to fab some sort of block off plate, where my EGR port to intake used to go. Here are the both intakes, the melted intake was not too horrid as the plastic 3 piece that was above it all.

1 of the reason when I purchased my truck was to get under a 02 but a 00 nbs style because of the drive by cable. I want control and feel the response from my foot, no delay what so ever. So I am happy it will be on the LQ9, they never came with. :D

Prob get the engine in as soon as the weather clears up.

OK. I have been busy at work, but had today, off. I got the lq9 bolted to the GMT800 frame. So it is inside the truck, and looks like it belongs there, had some fighting but everything went okay. :)
The lq9 powersteering was switched to the Tahoe powersteering as I have no hydroboost brakes, I have a booster.
I also had to remove the oil cooler lines from the lq9, as the Tahoe does not cool the oil. I figure I can always add this feature later down the road, with a different radiator or something that will accept the oil cooler lines. The block off plate I used came off the 5.3 with the shorter bolts as well.

All that is left, is to drop the cross member and get the tranny in place as well as driveshaft, Then bolt it up to the lq9, then bolt up intake, coils, etc.. Cant wait to button it up sometime this week, I should be working on it tomorrow if Im off early. I will post some pics a little later. Took all day to get it in.
