Popped the hood the other day to check an A/C compressor function and what do I see? Oil filler tube & cap....gone. I think it's just a push in fit, but really, just fell out? Is this common for a 14 year old Sub 5.3 with 225k? Surprisingly not low on oil.

They actually have a locking tab inside. They twist in, but could have become brittle and broke free. On a side note I usually remove mine and just screw the cap right in the valve cover and use a funnel to fill it.

Well, I thought it was gone, never to be seen again, but I found it last night. It had wedged itself down under the A/C compressor lines where they hook up to the compressor. New O-ring and get it installed. It's still strange to me that it came out.

While re-installing this last night, I noticed that one of the black plastic caps was missing from the A/C charging ports as well. Now I'm starting to wonder if someone has been under the hood of this Suburban with ill intent. Two things missing/removed :(

One very surprising thing I found....the oil was full on the dipstick. None had blown out of the missing oil cap fill tube when it was open. Good thing on that one.
