I won't bank on a head gasket just yet. The lower intake manifold gasket is prone to failure more so than the head gaskets on these engines. I would bet your problem is there, ESPECIALLY since you are not having any driveability issues. That lower gasket seals the crossover for the coolant. Since the coolant flows through the intake manifold, when the seal fails it dumps coolant into the valley of the engine and into the sump.

If you are handy you can fix it yourself in about 6 hours and you only really need a good metric socket set, an adjustable wrench and a flat blade screwdriver...hell you can get those at ACE for less than $40. The seal set retails for less than $35.

I wasnt sure if it was a headgasket either since I thought it would run and drive differently if it was blown, but the truck still runs and drives perfectly. Is there any way that I can check without tearing shit apart? I KNEW i should have brought my tools up here with me.

Yes, it's pretty easy...

Is there coolant in your oil?? Yes? Okay...you have a bad lower intake manifold gasket. ;) Telling ya...it's the most common issue on the 5.7L and the 4.3L (and other GM engines) of that era.

I just bought a 99 Yukon cause dude thought that he blew a head gasket(s). I bought this truck for $1000.00. I freaking stole it! Just the brand new tires on it alone were worth $1000!! He thought one thing but I knew better. Got it home, took it apart and $35 (and some oil and coolant) later I had a perfectly running truck.

Head gaskets are not known to fail on the 5.7L in stock form.

From what you guys say, other info I've read online, and how my truck still runs, I am confident that it is the intake gasket and not the head. I'll have the truck trailered home in a maximum of two weeks and hopefully it should be getting torn apart a little before Christmas. I'll let you guys know how it goes and I'll post pics and everything of it

So are you saying the only reason that my head gasket blew out to a adjacent cylinder is because of the CAI put on. other then that is was stock.

??? Huh ??? Is that what I said? Is that really what you read? Do you need a reading class?

The 5.7L does not have a history of blowing head gaskets. They DO have a history of blowing the Lower Intake Manifold Gasket.

Treat us with respect and we will treat you with respect. I'd suggest keeping these types of jabs to a different forum :deal: From your original post it is very easy to interpret the info exactly how sunlit interpretted it.

Hey! You're talking to my guy all wrong. It's the wrong tone. Do it again, I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron.

I think a slap in the face with a rusty crusty ole head gasket would be more appropriate.:chair:
