unknown at this time.
They will all glaze over a bit in time. but not like the old V-belt styles use to. If you have noise but the tensioner is correctly positioned it is more of a misalignment of pulleys nowadays.

I thought the "misalignment" usually only happened when people changed their accessories (ie:alt./water pump/etc.)?

I replaced my belt twice with cheap crap from the local wal-mart of parts stores. Both of those started to squeal within 100 miles. Ordered a Goodyear Gatorback and haven't had a squea,l sqeak, nothing. Oh yeah, those cheap belts stretched enough that the tensioner started to tap and cause the knock sensor to go into affect. I think the OP bought a cheap knock off Gatorback. Never have had problems with Gates or Goodyear. I've been using them for decades with no problems.

Or when someone or some mechanic removed an accessory to get to something else and reinstalled it w/o the proper shims.

I have had Gatorback belts on my truck for the last two years now. No squeaks or squeals at all, and they still look brand new. F*** the haters, I swear by them. Lol!
