I went to stop at the store today and happened to run over a large (4 ounce) wheel weight that fell off someone's car. This punctured the LR tire. I noticed this when I got out of the truck, immediately got back in and started it up to go home (I live .5 miles from the store, and prefer working on it there). When I started the truck (06 Tahoe, Z71, 5.3 Flex) I got a check tire pressure (duh), Service 4WD, and Stability System Disabled messages.

My question is, what could cause this? I've tried taking the TREC fuse out to reset and nothing. Could the 0 PSI reading trigger the truck to turn off the 4WD and Stability? It seems to drive fine, no loss of power or control, it just won't let me change to 4wd (no lights on the selector switch after the initial startup)

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, this is my first truck and first 4wd experience. (no I didn't take it out to play before the store, I was driving home from work) Thanks in advance....

Have you tried undoing the neg on the battery and leaving it off for a while?

This sounds like the GM version of a PC computer error message telling you everything BUT what the problem is to get your attention.

That's funny!

Tahoe, since it was the left side, I would check harnesses going to transfer case. Make sure they didn't get knocked off or any wires pull out. Do this while you disconnect battery, like bahollis said. Good luck!

Thanks, I'm heading off to work (in the Camry) and I'll try this tonight when I get home. I'll let you know if I find anything. Hopefully it's just a loose connector

So I checked and couldn't find anything.. Tried the Neg cable and still getting the errors. Taking it in on Monday to a shop, we'll see what they say. Hopefully it's something relatively inexpensive and easy to fix. Once I know what it is, I can probably fix it myself, I just have no experience troubleshooting this stuff.

So I took the truck in this morning, (no codes when I started the truck, but wasn't run all weekend) and they gave me the following codes from history.

C0283 - Mode Circuit
B2575 - Headlamp Control Circuit (possibly my HID?) But I haven't seen problems with this one
C0327 - Encoder Circuit

I'm going to do some research on these, but if someone has any experience with this I'd appreciate any input you have. The shop wants to charge me $184 to figure out what's broke, and then if I have them fix it, they'll give me 50% off that fee.

I'll update this thread with the results of the whole thing.

I'm just guessing, but since the truck read a tire pressure issue it probably turned off the stability control, causing that code. There are so many factors in the stability control system that one thing can shut it down and make that code come up. Everything from steering to tires to brakes to suspension issues since they are all tied into it in one way or another. Once you fixed your tire, the codes went away. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.
