Seems that back up cam is the way to go. Wiring is a breeze, but did those of you who have the cam's, where/how did you locate an entry to run the wire's to the interior from the rear bumper? Or in some cases, I have seen some mounted about the 3rd brake-light on the roof, pointing down, getting that inside would be as easy as running it though the tail gate...

Thanks!

I have a 7" JVC touch screen head unit with camera-out, this is a no-brainer, I didn't even think of back-up cam!

I looked on Amazon and saw plenty of cheap camera's. I like the idea of finding one that I can squeeze stealth-style in the gap between my towing hitch and bumper

Here is a solution for in between towing hitch and bumper, its pretty pricey though.CCD Premium Camera

To your first question about auxiliary lights, i bought some cheap led angel eye lights and inserted them into my license plate screws and wired to the trailer harness. Its worked pretty well considering the cost of $4.

Just make sure to check out the comments on them. Some are titled as "waterproof" when they really aren't. Some actually are very weather-resistant. In any case if you have doubts, a tube of clear silicone is pretty cheap insurance.

Are these bright enough to use without a back-up camera? And how exactly did you wire them, reverse cable?

To be realistic no. Unless i have a huge light bar lighting up the back ill never see out of 3% tint at night. It was mainly for my backup camera, to give it some extra lighting on the ground, and it was just for fun. I wired it to the trailer harness reverse wire.
Heres a pic of the backup monitor at dusk. with both small leds and reverse leds it does a good job for the camera.
