I'm wondering how I can take off these side panels, and if i do. Is there going to be any residue left over?

You mean the mouldings?

Yes you can take them off.

A lot already have.

Lots of residue and then foam tape will be left. Get a 3M eraser wheel.

i was able to do it fast with a heat gun a pair of mechanix gloves and if you heat up the molding enough the adhesive behind it will all come off and also the tahoe badges come off the same way

A heat gun or a blow dryer. And high test fishing line. And a 3M roller wheel.

I'm wanting to do this as well but nervous about paint discoloration.. like paint being brighter under the moldings then the rest of the truck because of sun and weathering. Any chances of this or am I crazy?

I just took one of mine off yesterday. Need to finish later. But there was no discoloration on mine, and mine is white.
