I've had Sirius since it came out. This is my 4th vehicle with it. I'm getting spotty reception - a simulated static sound is played often enough to annoy the crap out of me, anyway. None of my other radios did that. If there was signal loss (like in a parking garage) it was radio silence.

I commute from Stratford to Stamford on the Merritt Parkway in CT every day. Not until this car have I ever noticed signal interruption (unless stuck under bridge during traffic jam). Moreover, NAV does not show the traffic flow for the Merritt. I did get a traffic alert for the Merritt this afternoon (that was neat - voice interrupted radio to say road was closed due to accident).

Is this normal? Maybe they installed my antenna badly at the factory? Wouldn't explain the traffic, though... I95 traffic flow is shown. In my Ford Parkway traffic was shown.

SXM support said to take it to dealer. Don't want to waste my time if others in CT tell me this is just how it is. I really hate the fake static sound.

Google showing me that GM = XM, Ford = Sirius. This is my first XM vehicle if that's true. Even though the companies merged, do they use different satellites, still? That would suck. Reading that northern states get crappy XM reception due to satellites being closer to earth. What I read was from a decade ago, though...

You shouldn't have that much problems. Have xm in another car and been through there multiple times. Could be a bad antenna

I have a 2016 Ford XLT work truck. I am having the same problem. The sound quality is horrible also. No depth the the sound. I find my self not listening to the satellite cause of both reasons.

When I do drive to work West Haven to Stamford on 95 I don't have any issues. I have issues in Branford on. Starts working 100% around Madison again.

I have the same issue in Georgia with a 2015 Yukon. I think they went cheap on the antenna because my 08 GMC Acadia didn't have the issue. I notice it most when driving past trees or taller buildings. The funny thing is, the trees don't even have to curve above the vehicle so it must be at a terrible angle or something. It is very annoying and I do not think I will renew the service, especially since there are several decent radio station options in the area.

I've been having bad reception problems with Sirius on certain channels the last few weeks in both my '16 Denali and '15 Z06. Don't think its a hardware problem with our vehicles.

I seem to have an issue with the signal cutting out going under objects, it's understandable but never was this bad in my other vehicle with an aftermarket unit.

Merritt Parkway is my favorite highway. The speed you can catch on some of those stretches is frickin amazing!

There is supposed to be a 5 second buffer built in, but like you, I can be under a bridge or overpass for just a brief amount of time and lose the signal. Frustrating.
