Hi! Just got a 2018 Tahoe, base of the base, 2WD. 3.08s, standard 20" factory wheels, I don't think it has a single option.
It has the plastic OEM "skid plate" that is more cosmetic and air deflection than protection.
We rarely (maybe a few times a year) go camping, and hit some mild double track to get there, but I like to be prepared just in case.
What's a good metal skid plate (one or two piece) that will offer some level of protection in case of big rocks, but isn't 3 grand, rock crawler with a winch and 4.88s spec?
This will be a pavement DD 98% of the time.

So far, it seems only the Z71 OEM plates (Ebay link below) are an option? Is there another cover that goes on top of them that the Z71 has?

Mine currently looks like this.

If possible, I'd love to replicate this look with the skid plate (and cosmetic cover on top?). Is that possible with a non-Z71 Tahoe without replacing the entire bumper?

Have you found anything?
The stock ones look pretty flimsy.

I have that set from the same seller. I bought new bolts from Fastenal vs the dealership.

Here’s a set that just popped up on eBay

Will these install correctly on a non-Z71 front bumper? Would love to replicate the look on my 2016 LTZ if possible without replacing the whole front bumper.

Take a look at GM part# 23475140
one I found for sale here today: https://www.gmpartscenter.net/oem-p...E3fI1JNH5nS1rdVva6fRIUAVP8E9v738aAs7AEALw_wcB

I purchased my front underbody skid plate in July 2018; ordered by the dealer. I also had them paint black to match my theme. Basically, I changed the front of my LTZ to match the z71 trim. New front valence molding, front fascia, some other small odds and ends. Pretty sure the valence molding includes the cut-outs for fog lights too...Core charge on receipt is because the dealer kept my LTZ front fascia, pretty sure they send back core charge items.

I did also come across the more common underbody front skid plate, but in steel for about $95: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3044961197...y4rTL-czfof5_yljJCzsom2T984rBBdUaAp3zEALw_wcB

Here's my BLACK Front Underbody Skid Plate, seen just below the CHROME z71 Front Valence Panel (additional part of the z71 front fascia/bumper)

I'm nearly positive that this skid plate will fit, regardless of Tahoe/Yukon trim level. It mounts below and behind the front fascia/bumper.
PDF file schematic from dealer of z71 trim attached (NO part #s included by dealer, of course)

Safe Travels!

Awesome - THANKS! That's a great deal for $96.10, I just ordered the set of 2. I assume that these 2 skid plates are the same size as the single plastic panel but use 6 bolts instead of 4, and I assume they share the center most 2 bolts? I also ordered the steel transfer case skid plate (part number 20922755) for $33.00. I am not sure how this one mounts yet, if it uses existing hardware or if I'll need to acquire hardware for this skid plate as well.

The two front plates require 8 bolts and the transfer case calls for 4; however, I have read of some members using 3.
