Bottom line im getting about 12mpgs in city and would like to get a little better even 13 or 13.5, or 14 mpg city.... I have about $200.00 to spend on the hoe and want some suggestions...

I also have an annoying squeek on my passenger front tire i think it might be bearings or someone said maybe a bad hub? idk i need to get it checkd...

so what would be the most benificial to buy:??

CAI about $130 for the spectre one...
new spark plugs and wires i dont know how much that will cost
New bearings and or hub for the side i dont know how much that will cost
Intermediate steering shaft $60 i hate that noise and wobble really annoying!
and also tint for front windows i hate the way its dark in back and light in front i want the even look and thats about $60

So idk what to go for which combos to buy like i said i only have about 200 right now, what would you go with???

get the wheel hub fixed first but I would recommend doing both sides at once, and depending on if you are doing the work or not depends on the price, check autozone for the prices of the hubs

safety first, the prioritize down from there.

not to mention,
if the wheel bearings are going,
they are causing extra drag when going down the road :emotions122:

+1

also,
look at how you're driving.
be easy on the gas, try to avoid stopping at lights (coast up to them, trying to stay rolling)
if you get stuck at a light you know is a long one, turn off the truck
avoid unnecessarily idleing
a K&N filter may help too, as well as a more open exhaust.
as well as a tune

good luck

Okay sorry guys got busy thanks for all the advice yea i agree saftey above everything its just hard to do that haha sometimes.... :) but on the wheel hubs or bearings how do i tell if i really need them all i hear when the passy window is rolled down in areas is a annoying high pitched sqweek or something as the car is rolling....

I already did a can of seafoam about a week and a half ago and it didnt show much smoke so i think im good.

Change the fuel filter huh will that do anything is this hard to do ? and so i shouldnt change the plugs and wires and all that jazz?

As far as the CAI i dont know yet 130 bucks for a spectre one is prob what i would get but i dont know if i would honestly see the 1 mpg to 2 mpg gain in the city which is what i want, and as far as tint i really really want it i just know i will get a ticket because pd around here is tight.

Sorry about all the long questions just curious what other tyfs think!

If the hub is bad you'll know when you jack up that corner of the truck and the wheel and tire wobble a little when you pull on either side. That would be priority one since I've seen pics of the wheel detaching from the spindle while in motion which will probably end up costing you more than $200.

If that isn't it then plugs and wires will cost you about $120 and a fuel filter is another $20 or so. You're not going to see a large increase in gas mileage though unless you spend a little dough.

I'm getting 20 in town back and forth to work. I have a spectre cold air intake, Corsa Sport cat back exhaust and a black bear tune. I've replaced the plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned the Mass Air Flow sensor and throttle body and ran a can of SeaFoam through the top end. My truck just broke 100,000 miles so it was time for maintenance.

Might also make sure your battery is good and the air in your tires is 35 PSI. If you have custom wheels, wider tires, bug or wind deflectors or any other after market goodies they may be hurting your gas mileage.

Most importantly, it a big heavy truck with a pretty peppy V8 in it. Your right foot is going to be the best gas saver of all.

Good luck.
