Thanks all. I'm looking at getting a used engine. Seeing some for 3500-ish. Good enough to squeeze some more miles out of it. Engine swap is a lot easier than a rebuild in my opinion.

Good luck! It’s a tough call sometimes when it comes to deciding where your line is on things when it comes to vehicles. Been there myself.

Welcome to the forum Aaron. What year truck is this? I don't show a P0111 for the GMT900s.

A walking camshaft moves forwards and backward too much, the problem is not caused by the camshaft but by a worn front cover or the spring and button and this was on old Buick engines, not LS motors!
P0111 is a valid code for hybrid.. according to the
Service Bulletins

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/SB-10071288-7690.pdf
if you got a volt

the IAT is part of the MAF sensor

MAF/IAT sensor is dirty clean it with the correct cleaner Don't use electronic cleaner or brake cleaner
MUST be for MAF sensors

but P0111 is embedded on the computer as a DTC according the the Hybrid diagnostics manual..

but if the VVT or camshaft

went it means there was a failure in doing maintenance or oil changes

my hybrid engine has seen well over 200,000 Startup and Stop cycles still purrs along
with No Sludge and No burning oil AFM enabled and VVT enabled......

the problem is you or the previous owner let the "problem happen" by thinking you can let the oil sludge up and run the oil 12,000 miles while towing a boat... and staved the camshaft of oil because the little tiny pen sized tubes clogged up with sludge

Bulletin Number: PIC5708D
This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have Check Engine Lamp on. Technician will find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0111 set. Technician will need to update the Engine Control Module

Oh good, did not see it in either of my shop manuals, neither of which include the Hybrid.

You know nothing about the history of this vehicle or how it has been used or maintained. Yes, maintenance plays a big part in keeping a motor running but even with proper maintenance and regular (3000 mile) oil change intervals, these things sometimes fail, especially after 200K miles.

Yes you have had good luck with your hybrid but you can’t take credit for all that as you have not put 200K on it since I believe you bought it used just 6 months ago.

you should watch this it's a older sub but the motor is busted to hell

Skip to 6:47 Watch him run it dry while revving up the engine!

then at 7:09 EVERYTHING is running really good

me: so no oil flow is running really good!

Revvs engine @ 7:28 barely a dribble of oil coming out of the clogged tubes..

This is the same guy that believes in magnets on the oil filters.. he only needs them because the engine is tearing it self apart from the inside

80k on the clock with a engine that is grinding it self apart and the 5.7L is busted out that will need replacement soon his OCI is 12,000 and it comes out black as liquid charcoal

Yep.

Poor maintenance and stupidity will kill a motor. Thanks for clarifying that Captain.
