Been having issues where my 2022 Yukon XL's battery dies. Truck was making noises whenever I walked up to it (unlocked in the garage but no key in my pocket). It seemed like the truck wasn't going to "sleep" properly, as the ambient air temp displayed in the truck would always show the last exterior temp outside from the last drive, despite having been parked in a heated garage for 24 / 48 / 72+ hours.

Originally suspected it might have to do with the hands free lift gate module (https://gm-techlink.com/?p=18497). Pulled the fuse, but noticed that sometimes when we would go in the garage the truck would start making those noises again.

There is a motion light above the truck. Is there any chance an ambient light sensor or something similar might be waking up the various modules and preventing the truck from going to sleep? Anyone seen or heard of anything similar?

Is it still under warranty? If you have EVER taken it in for this problem and they say they cannot duplicate, I hope you got ANY documentation of the visit and why and what they tried and results.

Still under warranty; have had a few other electrical-type issues. Will make sure on my next visit it is well documented. Wanted to get some insight from this forum to see if there is anything suggested that I could point the dealer towards.

There are several TSB’s for battery drain, see the NHTSA site..And there was a serial data gateway module update that had to be at the dealer for Battery Drain as well.
Interestingly most of this started after the serial data gateway reprogram. Maybe something went wrong during that process?

Sometimes I think it would be worthwhile to take the vehicle in and ask that every single module be updated to the latest calibration available...The dealer won't do it...becasue they have no way to get paid by gm for it...but it sure would be nice to get the latest on everything.

Just a thought, take both keys and put them inside of a cookie tin with the lid on and see what happens. These keyfobs have a good distance and just walking near the truck with the keyfob in your pocket will wake up the truck.

If you have anything pluged into the OBDII port like a DFM disabler, OBDII interface, dash cam power adapter, unplug that as well and see what happens.

Check all the under hood fuses and relays. On my 2021 Silverado some were not pushed down all the way and the bolts that hold the 2 halves of the fuse box together were loose. This caused all kinds of odd electrical issues. Torque for the bolts id 54 inch lbs.
