if you have a hitch on, the hitch cover will be off and you can reach up behind the panel and pop off the little panel.

Well.... in that case, just remove the hitch cover with the two twist locks and then pop off the panel.

i just open the hitch cover and stick my fingers in there to push out from behind.

a coin works and it won't damage anything unless you do it like a crackhead, the paint and metal is paper thin already this will be the least of your worries, the tiniest tap, bump, scuff is going to leave a mark on your vehicle, since 2015 the metal is noticeably thinner and the paint is softer. rub your fingers on it and it will leave a mark. you will most likely first notice it around the door handles and how bad it shows will depend on the paint color, darker colors will show it more than lighter colors
