Spare tire hoist question

My '04 'Burb didn't come with a jack handle and lug wrench (it does have the jack and wheel blocks though.) I bought a jack handle/lug wrench combo off of Amazon that is supposed to work. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to lower the spare. I unlocked the slot for the jack handle and put the handle down in there but I don't feel it "engaging" in the hoist.

Can someone snap a photo of the "hoist end" of your jack handle? I think I may have gotten the wrong one. The "Male" end (small end) doesn't seem to engage at all and while I can get the "female end" to engage something, it won't turn and in any case, the way my jack handle is made, putting it into the slot with the "female" (larger) end facing inward only gives me two handle segments, not 3 so I don't have enough room to put the lug wrench on to turn it.

Thanks in advance. If this doesn't make sense I can snap some photos of what I'm talking about.

Yes, that's what I'm looking for. So according to my manual the "hoist end" and the "jack end" are different. The bottom photo looks to me like the "jack end", yes? I need to make sure I have the proper "hoist end" so I can lower my spare. The jack end doesn't seem to fit.

The bottom picture goes into the hoist to lower/raise the spare tire. The extensions that go into the lug wrench all slide into each other and lock into place securely. It can only go in one way. Hope this helps a bit better.

OK, I see what you're saying but mine doesn't seem to work. I put the small end with the little hook (as you showed in the picture) into the hoist but it doesn't engage anything. I can turn and turn and nothing happens.

Any idea how to fix this?

My 02 has a square female socket on the end of the tool that I assume slips over a square male piece down in the tube.

Hmmm...is there someone in the Denver area who has an '04 who would be willing to meet with me just to make sure I have the right tool set? As I said, I bought it off of Amazon and it's supposed to fit but I'm not sure it's the right one.

This. Put them together like in fosscore's pics except remove the last section that engages the jack.


Edit: seems like maybe i do have 4 sections total though

Right, see if I try that then I only have 2 sections, and that's not long enough to put the jack handle on to turn it. Also I tried doing that and it didn't seem to want to turn, in fact it rounded out the socket.

Can you check to see if you have 3 segments or 4? The one I bought from Amazon only has 3 segments and the jack handle/lug wrench.

EDIT: Never mind, I think I found the issue. I'm supposed to have 3 extension segments and the hook section, but I only have 2 plus the hook. I've requested a return from Amazon.

Yep, it takes 3 of the sections and the one that goes into the hole is the square female end. I bought mine off EBay, used.
