Just got the Street Scene hitch cover and my spare tire is blocking it from being flush so i need to remove it. I assume its just the kind to put a rod in and it lowers but cant find my that stuff. Starting to think original owner lost it or didnt put it back. Where should it be located? I know its a stupid question, but I didnt find a thread and need it gone. Thanks

While your under there go ahead and take off the heat shield behind the spare because without the spare you can see it chillin down there and without the spare it isn't needed.

Okay sorry to bring this post back up but for the sweet mother of good I need help. All I want is to remove my spare and install my hitch cover....but of course that can't happen. I lower my spare but it stops at a certain point and won't lower anymore, so I assume the secondary latch system is in place. I read the manual and got the jack out, raised the tire up and nothing? What am I doing wrong guys? Help me out please

The spare on these things are a *****!
Ok I'll try to run you through it from memory.
You should have two parts holding the tire up the long stick and then the ball like object that doesn't fit through the hub.
You have to lift the tire and use the spare wire you have to lift the ball away from the stick deal and turn it sideways slide it through the hub and PRESTO your spare is off!

Right push the ball back up the wire and turn it on its side so the top side of the ball is rotated 180 degrees with one of the tabs pointed up at the car so that it will fit in the hole and come out the top!
