Spark Plugs for 6.2L

I've wrenched on my own cars for years now. The Yukon is due for plugs and wires. Any common pitfalls to avoid? Any tricks to make the job simpler? Considering the dealership wants $600 for the job, I imagine it must be a PITA.

The $600 job is at what labor rate per hour? I would guess at least $180 an hour, depending on what part of the country you are in. Lets say 2 hours labor is $360 leaving $240 for parts. Likely $15 each for plugs and that is $120 and that leaves $120 for plug wires. That all adds up to $600.

Amusingly enough, I ordered those exact plugs and wires yesterday. I'm not really mad at the garage for the price they quoted, I'm just too cheap to pay that kind of money for a simple job. Their time has value and I understand the job, while simple, does take time.

Now, if they were cracking the engine open for a cam or something then I would pay them their money. I've looked at the replacement cost for that engine and do not want to buy one if I mess something up!

For the #8 plug, @Rocket Man shows what to use:

So i decided to change my plugs on my 2008 Tahoe after a 125,000 miles, the driver side easy to do but the passenger side little more difficult. So i removed the inner wheel well liner and used my dewalt clamp to push the AC lines up to access the rear plug, see pic. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the tip. I had a 02 Z28 years ago. On that one it was easiest to change the plugs when installing long tube headers. Already had the motor mounts undone, power steering pump loose, and motor jacked up until the trans hit the tunnel. Hopefully her truck goes easier than that Camaro.
