I've already asked about putting 80w cree projector bulbs in my blacked out oem taillights, but no one responded. I'm sure the cree bulbs would have worked, but I decided to try led tails instead. I did order some Q5 cree with 12smd reverse leds. I'll load those pics when they come in. I did this mod because people could barley see my brake lights in the daytime, and I even saw a few almost rear end me.

You need to take slow and easy with a steady hand until the blade all the way through the plastic. The blade will then hit the back of the reflector and knock it loose. You only need to make 3 cuts per light. Do not remove the plastic coating until you are ready to install. You must make sure the first bottom cut knocks the reflector loose or your next 2 cuts might cut into the reflector. Hold the tail to where the loose reflector is up against the the clear part so you don't cut through it with the next 2 cuts. If you happen to screw up you can always buy a replacement reflector.

This is the tool I used to make the cuts.

This is the piece you're cutting out. This is also the same piece that the reflector is attached to.

I used silicone to seal it up and hold the reflector in place.

I have seen these on another Tahoe with barn doors with the rapid blinking problem, but mine don't do it. You will need the resistor hooked to the blue and black wire to keep your cruise control. It will be the middle socket that you tap into.

Night time under lit parking area. Brake is not applied. You can see the blacked out oem taillights at night, but they are terrible in the daytime.

I was looking for this thread already and couldn't find it. I knew someone already did it. Spec-d has stopped making these I think because they're not on their website anymore. When I asked about it no one said jack or pointed me to that thread. I've already seen his lights a long time ago. He posted his like they fit without modification. I never knew he modified them. I would've got the red, but they were like 55 more dollars because they're becoming rare. They were sold out ofthe smoked lights. I waited about 2 weeks before another seller listed them. It's amazing how we did the mod almost the exact same way. The moderator can delete my post for all I care because I knew nothing about his, and I use the search feature.

It will probably happen again when I asked another question in the future. Then when I post how to do it, people start responding too late.

I also see no one responded to the last guy in the thread looking for the red led tails. I guess I'll pm him the link.

Sorry man, If I had seen your post I would have directed you towards it. Sometimes people just dont read certain posts by accident lol.

Yea Im happy with mine. I think they are the best option for people with barn doors.

I hadnt seen that someone else had posted on my how to thread.

Man, they must of just put them back on the website because I clicked on Tahoe and only 2 ugly looking tails came up. I see a whole bunch of different lights on there now. They also just listed the red one at that price on ebay. I should have waited a little longer, but I thought they stopped making these. I see at least 4-5 sellers with the red ones. Like I said before there were no smoked ones on there at all until the other day.
