Open element CAI's like the spectre are good when you're driving at speed but when you're at a stand still the intake soaks up the heat (heatsoak) from the engine bay bad. This kills your IAT (intake air temp) and that kills your performance and fuel economy. Intakes like Volant that are closed element won't heatsoak as bad at open element's but also don't flow as well.

by chance anyone with this intake happen to have pictures of the intake off the truck, im interested in pickin this up but wanna see how thin the intake tubing is before i purchase it

I never took any pictures of it off the truck but if you`re worried about the polished aluminum tube being too thin? Don`t worry, It`s strong. I`ve had mine for about a year now with no problems.

just thought id share on ebay if u seach spectre 9900 there is a company selling these intakes for 89 bucks shipped!
