What starters are yall using for factory replacement?? I was told to stay away from rebuilt starters b/c they make a loud whining/screeching sound. Just curious if anyone has had this problem. Its for a 2004 Tahoe.

I just checked O'Reilly Auto's website and they have an Ultimate Select starter (Part # 396232) that is new for $169.99 (plus $10 core charge). It has a limited lifetime warranty.

That's probably what I'd go with.

I hate re-man starters. I've always had bad luck with them going out again in a short time. Sure they've got a warranty but it sucks having to do the job twice.
