Steel rim bead seat

I just clear coated my steel rims .
Clear coat some pretty tuff stuff ( sanded it alot ) . I was thinking on putting extra coat on the inside lip of rim right where the tire bead seals on . To stop rust from gathering there . Has anyone tried this ? After sanding clear coat it made me think it be alot harder then just paint in that area and extra coat there help out .

Anyone know the max PSI of these rims can handle let me know . One place says 100 psi other said 80 psi and I can't find it on rim .. might be rusted where numbers are and I never know .

they came out nice...id not worry so much about the air pressure, fill as the tire is rated. 80 psi is a harsh ride tho. i run my tires at 40.

as far as the inside of the beads, sand em clean of any rust and crud and i'd do just a coat or 2 of paint should seal em up good.

Putting them 10 ply tires on the rim is something else there super tight going on I got bunch chips and scratch's to deal with . Ya commercial 10 ply tires are pretty much a perfect rims enemy. That bead barely goes on . There super stiff tire . You couldn't have enough soap lube on everything .
235 85 16 on a 6.5 inch steel rim .

I put some 14 ply trailer tires on a 7 inch rims and they were a breeze getting them on rim you could push first side on by hand with alot soap .

They sealed good we'll see if any leaking in near future I have 40psi in now 235 85 16 it's still pretty harsh ride empty ..could I go down to 35psi ? 10 ply it corners and rides way nicer on tar roads . Steers way easyer. Then the 265 70 17s it kinda gives it the look of cross between GMC Yukon XL SLT crossed with Chev Work truck . [emoji106] 4:10 gears kinda likes them . Height is 31.7 inch I measure them . It's a shocker how good it handles .

those 10 ply tires, they got a super stiff side wall. why it handles and turns better. and rides so much stiffer.

make sure you rotate them every 5k to get the most life out of em.

i used to snow plow with 12.5 wide 33 inch tall BFG's. in 2wd 80% of the time too with my 03 gmc 2500 HD pick up. never got stuck, other then when i got my self high sided hard core. not a wheel touching the pavement lol

ive heard the skinny wheels work better for decades now. more weight to a smaller contact area. but im not buying that noise for the last 20 years. funny how i was always pulling out the fords with their fake 4wd set ups. right rear and left front is not a 4x4. i had a locker and damn good limited slip up front. hit the pile and spin the wheels and i'd leave 4 black spots where the tires spun. you'd see the snow kick up past the fenders on both sides too. i miss that damn truck. was a real beast.
