My steering has no play when the engine is off but once I start up my truck there is a little play to the right. Steering to the left is tight, I'm confused.

I just replaced the gear box and that took most of the play out. Inner and outer rods r relatively new too.

Guessing you replaced pitman arm as well? As well as Idler arm, and also Idler arm bracket. Most people don't replace that, but can cause play if worn. I just replaced all of it, and have no play now.

After I replace the idler arm bracket would I need to get an alignment...I would hate to get another alignment after getting one just 2 weeks ago after installing the djm control arms.

Since the idler bracket doesn't adjust geometry (toe/caster/camber), shouldn't have to get a new alignment after replacing...the only thing you might notice is that if it was really bad, your steering wheel may not be straight.
