Stock headlights vs Silverstars

Thought I would post this picture of a stock bulb vs a Silverstar bulb. This is in a 2009 Yukon Denali. Trying to decide to go HID but thought maybe Silverstars would satisfy our desire for brighter/whiter/cleaner lights.

Thought we would be happy with the Silverstars instead of messing with HIDs but the curiosity of HIDs has gotten the best of us and we plan on ordering HIDs soon. Thinking about the DDM Raptor kit. Does anyone know if they will work in the stock headlight housings ok? The housings have a diffuser and I was wondering if that would affect the HID bulbs.

I've wasted plenty of money on Silverstars in my day and will never again. They are known to burn out rather quickly and for the price....no thanks. Your definitely going to give off a lot of glare to oncoming traffic so try and find some bulbs where they have a shield around them on the bottom of the bulb. It should help with the glare.

My last set of silverstars burnt out at the same time (what luck) Not fun when it was at night.

me too, used them, better than stock, but cant touch HID output.

nothing compares to hids and for the price now a days u spend almost the same if not more a sylvania ultra

Yeah, hindsight is pretty clear that we should have just gone HID. DOH!

I agree with this guy. They are nice and clear and bright; but i'm not changing my headlamps every 6 months for that kind of $$$... I went back to factory long life... any light beats no light. I put these in my wife's mazda...we went back to the cheaper longer lasting ones.

Did you use the stock headlight housings? If so, are your HID's blinding people?

Yes I did use the stock housings but they have to be PROPERLY aimed after installation to keep from blinding people. They give a more distinct pattern than the original lamps do so they are easy to aim.
