You would be happy to know that a buddy of mine does car detailing and I borrowed his carpet steamer to clean my carpets. While I was out there he went ahead and buffed my headlight.

Postponing the paint work this month to use the money to prep for a bodybuilding competition in October. Took the chrome fender trim off and after 4 coats of Plastidip and 3 coats of glossifier they are finally black. Would have preferred them to be even shinier but at least they aren't chrome. Will eliminate them completely when paint work gets done early next year.

Looks much better!
Did he coat the headlights with anything after buffing them? They will fade and yellow again otherwise.

You need UV protectant.
You can use clear coat with UV protection, or 1lb cut Spar Urethane works too and is wipe on. There are detailing products designed for it too, they tend to be more expensive $60+
