Just so I'm clear, you rebuilt an engine, you have an oil pressure gauge that reads 80 all the time so essentially you don't know IF you have sufficient oil pressure or ANY oil pressure, and you are out driving it around??

well retorq, if the motor did not have any oil pressure, wouldn't you think the gauge would not read anything? as in 0? the oil pressure gauge was working fine before the truck went down for the rebuild and now the gauge is pegged out all the way past 80. i was thinking it could be the stepper motor going out because i put a new pressure sensor on, everything is hooked up and all grounds are tight. thats why i was wondering if i could somehow run a mechanical gauge to at least have some piece of mind. IF anyone has sufficient info that may be able to help me solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
