Hey guys, this is my first post.

I have a 2000 Yukon, 5.3L

We had a major snowfall and could only get into garage in 4lo, 4hi usually cuts it except this time.

Anyways, now I can't switch out of 4lo, I have it in neutral, select any other mode (4hi, 2wd, Auto 4wd) the newly selected button flashes, I can hear the transfer case switch (no grinding), it holds for about 1 or 2 seconds then switches back to 4lo.

I'm hoping it's some type of tcase motor, but have read about trouble with the TCCM.

Since i can hear it trying to switch is it the motor?

Check engine light has been coming on and going off by itself last couple of days. No service 4x4 light.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you switch into 4lo the suggested way? Have it in neutral and let it roll real real slow, 2-4mph then push 4lo
I threw mine in 4lo about a month ago and when I started the truck up next time, I just watched for when the transfer switch illuminates all 4 lights and quickly hit 4hi. Not sure the gm suggested way of getting out of it, but that worked for me

I had it in neutral always. Tried from a stand still and a slow roll. still nothing.

Anyway to tell if it's the TCCM or the encoder motor? I can hear and feel it trying to switch, so does this mean the TCCM is working and motor is shot?

It could be so many things. I just went through this but my problem ended up being my wiring. So if you need a new selector switch, encoder motor or tccm I have all three, let me know, I'll give you one hell of a deal.

What year is the selector switch that you have for? I am looking for one since mine is acting up, (that is if the op isn't interested) I can't pm yet since I don't have 10 posts :emotions122:

let me know...

Try putting tc in neutral, what you would need to do if you had to tow your vehicle. Procedure in your manual. Then if it works, it might reset system.
