Stuck in 4WD?

Had the Tahoe worked on the other day. They replaced the pitman and idler arm as well as all of the tie rods. Ran it though all of the settings, just seems to stay in 4wd. Any suggestions?

Edit to add a little more background info:

I took the truck in because it was pulling to the right pretty good and has sloppy steering. This is both before and after new tires and an alignment. Took it in again and they replaced all of the above. Seems like the steering is a tad tighter but still sloppy and now stuck in 4wd.

Try removing the 4wd acuator on the front axle, and try manually turning the front driveshaft while the actuator is out, if it's in 2wd and the actuator is out, and it doesn't turn, you may have a bad encoder motor on your transfer case.

Thanks! I'm looking at the Chilton. Is this what they refer to as the "Front Axle Shift Motor"?

The actuator is on the back side of your front axle (side closest to the engine), it has a plug with a couple wires coming out of it, and the body is a plastic or composite material. The nut part where you would put the wrench on it is pretty big, 1-1/4 1-1/2 maybe.

So its not stuck in 4wd. Snowed the other day and only two were spinning. Goes into 4wd normal.

The tires bounce like it is in 4wd on tight turns though.

Did you try to take the actuator out? It sounds like maybe your front diff, or your limited slip in your diff is going bad.

Not yet. I am going to try and get under neath today.
