My apologies upfront for a lack of searching old posts on my end.

As I put the truck in reverse to back into the driveway to something happened, the shifter went limp, but the truck still reversed, but now seems to be in Neutral. The gear display says Reverse. I turned off the engine but it won’t try to turn over.

Any suggestions on the issue/ troubleshooting?

you can order a piece to fix that
part # T74498-1A from fitzall
it's a nylon/plastic replacement part and seems to be the best one out there based on my experience
I tried a couple others and they did not work well at all.

For now, you can slip it back in if you have the gear in the right spot before it broke. But it will most likely pop back out when you change gears again. Truck tall enough you can slide down and just put it back until you get your part but not a temporary setup you want others to worry about :)
