Well I figured out what the problem is. It hit me like a ton of bricks when I pulled into my driveway last night. There they were all 3 of em... nice stains of what I can only imagine is oil on my clean concrete driveway on the passenger side right in front of the rear tire almost under the running board area. Wham! Gotta be the rear AC line(s) that ruptured. Good news is, I found the leak. Bad news is, pretty much the same thing. I am hearing these bitches are expensive so time to do a little huntin. I have a friend that tells me he can repair the line and another one who says he can cap em off and render my rear AC useless. Not sure if I really want an inoperable component on my truck so I have to explore me options first. Good thing after today's 100+ day, tomorrow is only supposed to be like 68.

Anyone got any suggestions on where to find some low cost rear AC lines for this turd?

im sure my compressor and other parts are toast since the system has been empty for over a year now with that blown seal. its going to be almost 100 here before heat index tomorrow... may just have to fix mine as well. (damn!)

used to be a few threads on the chinese compressors (may have been on the old forum) but they aren't worth the money.

From what I've been hearing (and seen first hand) the main problem is everything usually seizes together. I started needing the main hose up front but the original was seized to the y-pipe and condensor. Really sucks!

There is a kit on ebay with everything except the hoses that run front to rear for around 600.00. Well effin worth it. Problem is you dont know what you need until you get waist deep into it. But if I had to do it again thats the way I would go!

Keep in mind the gauge on the can is a rough estimate. You need a real set of gauges that the the actual pressures on both the high and low sides and you must factor in the ambient temp in and outside the vehicle to determine exactly what is happening. Too much freon and you will overload the compressor and your air will actually be warmer. Too little and you will have compressor cycling and not enough freon to pull the heat out of the evaporator correctly.

You must pull a deep vacuum before charging and you must be able to hold that vacuum for at least 5 minutes or your just wasting your freon because you still have a major leak. You can get a set of cheap gauges at harbor freight (good for home use but thats about it). As far as a compressor is concerned you can purchase a genuine GM Delphi compressor under $200.00 at Autozone or ORileys , or if you want to save a little more check into Parts Plus, you can pick one up around $100.00 (it will be an import but they do work and Parts plus stands behind them)

Once you put everything back together consider using Cliplight 946, if you have anything else leaking it should take care of it.

For those having problem with substandard cooling try a can of Cliplight 945 Superchill. This stuff conditions and seals all rubber parts and increases the efficiency of the AC system giving you colder air.

I have both in my Black Tahoe and have air that will freeze me out here in the desert.

I'm still pretty confident that I ruptured the rear AC line considering there is nothing under the running board in front of the RR tire that would be leaking oil. LOL I am having a ***** of a time finding the rear line(s) for this thing right now though. Anyone got any idears on where one might find what I am searching for?

I just bought bought lines from Autocoolingsolutions.com, there high pressure hoses (made by Parker). With these lines there is no need to remove the old lines or running boards. You wire tie / zip tie them onto the existing lines. They are very knowledgeable.

Commonly the rear lines rot out where they are held in place by the brackets. At work we can disconnect the rear A/c or repair the lines. We leave it up to the customer.
