Interesting. Here in the bay you have to settle all tickets in court. I think about 12 years ago the court started charging a $20 fee for fix it tickets.

True, we’re just referring to walking into abc court here in SoCal. In ‘00 Orange Co Marshal merged with OC Sheriff. To increase revenue, more fix it type citations are issued w/ a fee. The sheriff could not justify the additional manpower for all the increasing cite sign off’s. Now, you pay (at our courts) for the fix it cite sign off and the nuisance fee of the fix it ticket.

The educated peeps have a local city cop, sheriff or chp sign off the cite for free b4 going to court to resolve it or mail it in. Just stopping by our local courthouse gets you a double fee.

You can’t call into to a live person at the courts in Orange County on a new violation. I navigated through their voice mail jail to a VRU where you could enter any name to x reference the status of an ongoing citation or court case. Only then will a clerk will pick up.

I had to find out if the incomplete registration cite had a fine b4 it was mailed in, nothing was noted so I didn’t assume. Sure as [emoji90], a $20 “processing fee” was needed but absent on the cite. I’m sure there would of been something else really bad that would of happened if I had not included $20 w/ the signed off cite.

Sent everything off to the court w/ a sig verify from the post office with a photocopy of the entire mess. Never heard back from them so just put all the ppwk in a filing cabinet. You can never document and follow up enough on cites as they put the entire burden on you to correct it. The courts ez fix if they lose something is issue a warrant. I’m not into that.
