Throwing around some sub enclosure ideas and would like to see some feedback on what yall think.
1. I have seen only one person on the forum do the first idea I had. Building an enclosure that fits in the rear driver side quarter panel in the cargo area. The only things that I don't like is that it will be a 10" or 12" sub and be hitting whoever sits in the 3 row area with all the sound and then I'm sure this area will rattle like crazy and may be more work to get it not to. I added a pic from when I took apart this area the other day, it would be where the spare jack area is.
2. New idea today was looking into building an enclosure for 2 or 3 8" subs to reduce weight as well as looking for heavier duty shocks to support the weight. Im really interested in doing this. I feel that it would be best for saving space and keeping the sound from directly hitting people. Im going to be doing research on this and will look at taking apart the hatch and looking at what i can get rid of or need to make this happen.
3. This idea could be a good one as well the would save space and keep the sound from directly facing people. Adding an 8" sub to each door. The only thing with this is getting all the wiring and right kind of speaker to handle the kind of air space they will using. This is the most plausible idea I feel that I should do just more work than I would like to do and will also be the most expensive of the 5 so far. This being the most and #3 being the second most expensive.
4. The obvious options is the console enclosures front and/or back (if i ever get the captains seats for 2nd row) but the last few enclosure iv heard underneath the consoles in other SUV/Trucks did not sound too great to me. They did sound ok but I like a certain kind of bass along with being able to adjust the level enough to have a good bang when driving around by myself.
5. The easiest of the 5 so far is building an enclosure that will fit behind the 3rd row seats. This would be 2 or 3 shallow mounts with a ported enclosure. The only thing is i will have to do the math and see how much air space i will need for this set up and will see about how tall it will need to be.
So whats up, any one around here done some of these as custom jobs your self? Pics and links would be great. Thanks.
