Figured i'd start my own thread since the last topic started to go on a tangent. I have picked up 4 Polk Audio DXi650s and a Alpine PDX-V9 amp, now i'm just looking for a 10" low profile sub to complete the package. The enclosure only has 4.5" of mounting depth, so my options are limited. The Alpine unit will produce 500-600 watts @ 4 ohms (i've read that they're a little underrated)... so i'm thinking of going with two JL Audio 10w1 8 ohm subs and wire them to 4 ohms. They are rated for 300 watts each.

I'm not looking for anything to shatter windows.. just something that I can feel. Coming from the basic 6 speaker system, it won't take much for an improvement. But I do want to feel it...

I am also considering the Polk Audio MM1040DVC but they have a mounting depth of 4.5" so it might be cutting it too close. I don't know if it's bad to have the backside of the sub being in contact with the enclosure. I know there are some RF subs but they don't appear to get the greatest reviews.

Any other recommendations?

I'm also trying to figure out the best spot for the amp, since i'll have no space below the 2nd row seats and I'd like to keep it out of the cargo area. The owners manual says it needs to be in a open space... i'm not sure how important that is but I do plan on using the amp to it's fullest potential so over heating could potentially be an issue.
