I have a 05 suburban that I have an offer to trade on a 04 avalanche and was wonder thoughts. Mine have some issues and a few leaks vs the avalanche don't have as many issues. In fact it's my son in law and they have twins in the way along with a 3 and a 4 years old. That's why he wants to trade for the more room. So any advice?
I've wanted a truck for a while so wondering if it's a fair trade.

Do it no matter what, they're kinfolk and it's for your grandkids benefit, these are the some of the safest vehicles on the road.

If he is aware of the issues and can fix them, trade.
I always wanted a avalanche, but I'm in the same boat, 3 car seats. (Although I do have the 3 mounted in my 300, the additional "spare" seating is nice)

I went ahead and did the trade this evening. The issues with the avalanche is a purge solenoid and O2 sensor. So that's that. Nothing major and like you said my grand babies are actually worth it.

Cool, you have something new to play with and your daughter and family will sure appreciate the extra space. Good thing about having similar platforms in the family is diagnostics, easy to swap parts and the knowledge is there for when whatever you learned how to fix on the first one is needed on the other. The little ones probably have a name for the Avalanche too so when they come visit Grandpa's house they'll call out the nickname of the Avy when they see it too.

Yes they do. They're grandpa's babies anyway. I told them the extra accessories are mine so today will be swapping parts day so I'm off to the garage now to get things done. Once full swapped I will post pics of the new toy
