For $80 on Amazon, I bought a replacement sub for my 00 yukon. It's not factory but with very little modification it fits in factory enclosure and can be wired for proper ohms. It's a Polk Audio db840dcv 8" voice coil sub. It sounds great, delivers crisp clear bass. In fact it's slightly overpowering if you are sitting in the back. When I removed the factory sub the foam was torn all the way around the speaker. No wonder it sounded like crap. Anyway, just putting it out there. All I had to do to mount it was take the rubber insulation off the rim of the mounting bracket so it would recess into the enclosure and use self tapping screws to mount it in place. The instructions were clear on how to wire it for the proper ohms. I used a ohm meter to check the factory sub I removed, then jumped out the new one to match, also testing it to make sure I wired it correctly. I also have a aftermarket jvc HD radio/cd/aux receiver. I found replacement factory door speakers... blew them already. Sub is good though

Id probably look into getting a mtx thunderform box and upgarding to a 10 inch sub, with aftermarket headunit and amp. Just something im thinking about doing.

That's what I went with, and I used a 10" JL Audio sub running off a 450 watt rms mono Soundstream Nano amp. Very nice, clean and loud bass.

I went ahead and used the sub and wired it to 4 ohms and it sounds a lot better than I thought, I'm thinking about buying a box and the same sub so I can have 2 and with 2 subs I can wire them both together to have the final load at 2 ohms
