Hello there ... :)

So I've been pondering making the step up in tire size for some time ... I was going to wait until the spring cause I wasn't sure I was going to keep these wheels and I was going to get the Nitto 420s.

However I've decided to stick with my current rims.

Like many of you, I love the tread pattern of the Nittos, but for some reason, although they are rated as an all season tire, said tread pattern doesn't convince me as to its performance on winter conditions.

Living in DC our winters are hit and miss, some years it will snow like it's Buffalo others barely any precipitation to speak of.

What I didn't know and recently realized is that the Goodyear spec tire that comes with GM oem 22" packages also comes in the 305/40/22 size: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...921x00003a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=09586580000

Price between the Nitto and the GY is basically the same.

So the question is ... should I stick with the bigger GY spec tire that I have on now and am confident as to its winter performance, or should I go with the Nitto which looks so much better?

I guess what I'm really asking is, how good are the nittos in winter driving conditions?

Thanks.

Serge, the Goodyear Fortera that comes OEM on the 22" GM wheels is rated below the Bridgestone Dueler when it comes to snow. Not sure if the Fortera is what you want.

I understand, but seen as they are $70-80 per tire more and I am confident with the performance of the Forteras from last winter, I do not see why they should be included in the poll.

This is really more to determine if the performance of the Nitto 420s in winter conditions is comparable to the oem spec tire, be they GY or Bstones. :waytogo:

you can send me your stock tires.

I'm sure we can work something out ... they have about 5k miles on them. :)

my comment was directed towards the Goodyears getting a mediocre at best review for snow purposes. I was under the assumption that your had Bridgestones. I'll go back to my hole now. Thanks.
