I had similar issues. Replaced both pitman and idler arms. As well as my forward sway bar bushings. Then I got it aligned and everything is perfect. No swayying on freeways at high speeds. No playing in My steering wheel.

I have a little "slop" or "play" in my steering also on the freeway in my 03 Tahoe. I actually did a search a few days ago also and people are saying they adjusted their steering gearbox?

I have a similar issue with my 2003 denali xl. It feels as though it wanders on the road. I also have what sounds like wheel bearing noise. I have replaced the drivers side hub twice now to no avail using parts from 1a auto. when I turn left the noise does go away. I can also feel the vibration at my feet. the truck has 245000 on it. I have only had it for about a year, so I don't really know what has been replaced. I am going to check the ball joints and all steering components soon. The alignment is off too as it pulls to the right. At one point the first winter I had it we parked in a stall and came back out later to leave. when backing out I heard a loud bang. There were others in the parking garage that heard it, it was loud enough to echo in the parking ramp. Not sure what it was, but I did notice more vibrating after this. Any help or suggestions on things to look at would be appreciated.
