Until I bought my Tahoe all I had driven was Hondas so I'm in the habit of leaving things plugged in and having the outlets turn off when i turn off the car. I was thinking of a way to do this for the Tahoe, could I wire a relay in and tap into an accessory fuse so the outlets turn on when the car turns on?

yes. actually you can cut into the two lower aux ports put the power feed and load wire of them on seperate relay contacts and feed the ignition on wire from a ignition on circuit from above the sockets to the relay coil and ground the other end and bingo ignition control ports.

add a switch to feed from a constant hot like a radio memory retension\Main power hookup and attach the other side of switch to same coil terminal as ignition trigger but you will probably want to add diodes on both turn on circuits or else when you turn it on manually it will try turning on everything on the ignition on feed and that will be way to much for just a trigger wire and small switch to handle.

Thanks, one more quick question, im wiring up a set of fog lights as backup lights directly to the baterry. Would a relay go between the battery and switch if i wanted them to only be functional if the car is on.

if you want them on automatically with reverse lights then use the reverse light circuit to trigger the relay. Is that what you meant?

the reverse circuit goes out if not in reverse or ignition is turned off.

if you are talking about putting those fog light forward facing for driving then just hook up the relay coil to an ignition feed not an accessory feed. They will go on and off with ignition.

But see half the reason i want them is to blind the assholes that tailgate me sometimes. Or to light up a job site. But im notoriously bad at turning off my lights.

use the recerse light circuit to trigger relay for reverse lighting. ANd when you get ready for a switch for blinding hook it to the same coil terminal with diodes like I mentioned above but the feed for the switch to an ignition on circuit. And when key is out it is shut down entirely.

I am out for the night:)

How long would these job sites need to be lit? or would you mind if your radio was on at the same time as on the job site?

Gotta sleep will catch up tomorrow.
