So I have had problems with when it sits for a couple days it has to be jumped. If the voltage regulator was on the way out, would it cause that and then it finally went out and caused the truck to die like that? Or is there still a bigger under lying issue?Mine did that a while back, turned out to be electrical. Alternator wasn't charging the battery and my voltage regulator went out.
I did notice my mpg sucked big time after I put a new alternator in about 6 months ago. Put a 250 amp in it and new battery due to the battery drain I was gettingIn my experience, it could be a bad alternator. Essentially, the alternator seizes. Had that happen on a Crown Victoria once. The only warning I got was slowly decreasing mpg and then it failed.
What would cause the alternator to just seize like that though? Not saying that you're wrong by any means, I'm just curiousA seized alternator could prevent them from turning the motor over with the serpentine belt still attached.
