Im going to buy all the supplies and attempt my first oil change. I figure if I can modify the body I should be more in tune under the hood. My oil changes are expensive.

Depending what oil and filter you go with might be a lil more but worth it imo cause you know it was done right

Just pulled the dipstick and it is low! Way to trouble shoot 95escahoe!!! So is there no low oil warning? Guess I have to pay more attention to this guage. That would explain my gas mileage. What would cause me to burn thru so much oil?

How many miles you got? And you want synthetic? I've got 255k on mine does not burn or leak any oil I use Castrol GTX high mileage with an AC Delco filter (some people say the AC Delco is junk tho) its a syn blend used it in all my cars/trucks

Thats like the Castrol, you can either keep using 5w30 and check it every 1k or whatever you wanna check it at cause they could have not filled it all the way you never know, and see what you come up with, and depending on that maybe try a thicker oil and see if that helps at all

Ill second on getting the supplies and changing it yourself. My Hoe has to be the "easiest to do oil changes on" vehicle I've ever done. The hardest was a 2001 era Ford F150 4.6ltr. I told her I would never do one again on it, and to take it to a shop!!!

I dont change my own oil. Thats one of my new years resolutions to do more things on my own. I wouldnt say I idle a lot. Theres about 160k miles on the truck. the place that services my oil has me on high mileage 5w 30 I believe its synthetic. This is my daily driver at least 40 miles to and from work. Im good about keeping a schedule and maintaining the vehicle but ive never seen anything like this.

I don't believe the high mileage 5w30 is GM certified. Use a 5w30 that's GM approved and see if there's a difference. Your owners manual will tell you what to look for. I can't remember the GM code found on the oil label.
