First off,
Its a pleasure to be a part of the forums.

Next,
Let me tell you the shit storm that this truck is causing me right now >_<
So, Driving to work and all of a sudden truck dies at a light. no sputter. nothing just turns off. lights on dash come on, Service engine soon, airbag, yada yada.
Strange... so i put it in park and turn her back on. doesnt happen for another 2 weeks. so 2 weeks later, it starts to turn off at idle more often... maybe once every few days.

Fast foward to today...driving down a backroad going 40-45 and the truck starts to stall but doesnt shut off. it starts to misfire. i try to accelerate, no resposne nothing. i pull over put her in park and shes still struggling so i shut her off. Turn her back on, good as new.

Any ideas?

Few things on the truck:
320 amp Mechman alternator
Red top in front, CnD dynasty in the back (both came back perfect 785 cca on the CND, 700 on the redtop, both batteries checked out fine. 12.8v resting)
KnN air filter
Big 3 0 gauge upgrade
Single run of 0 guage to rear.
2nd battery grounded to chassis with 0 gauge

Oil has been changed every 2000 miles since ... 10 years ago?
new disto, new plugs, new wires.
had some head work done due to a spring that broke on an intake valve

Other than that, car has no issues, majority of car is OEM.
Car has been passed down to me from 3 other family members, last being my father.
Truck has had no accidents until a lady hit me about a year ago(she had no license or insurance....)

Catch22:
IS THERE BY ANY CHANCE THAT... because just before this started happening, my o2 sensors went bad. i chose not to replace because i have been wanting to sell the truck for over a year but im emotionally attached... ( i sold all my competition audio equipment as well and then started to build back up because i couldnt take the silence anymore...) anywho. It started happening JUST after that. could any of this be because of bad o2 sensors?

any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
I was in the hospital about a week ago and i have a ton of bills i have to pay for so the 2 grand i had saved up for a new car is now gone, and im 22 and have never had any kind of credit with "collateral" just my credit card :( soooo im in a very tight spot considering its hell and a half for me to get a loan and my credit cards are almost maxed due to hospital costs.

thanks guys.

Are you throwing codes? Clean your throttle body would be a good place to start.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago. It shut off 2 times in one night smiliar to how you described.

Made a thread like yours and diagnosed it as needing to clean my IAC. But It hasnt happened since that night so I never bothered.

Found a loose engine ground, but it wasnt completely loose.. (you could moive it left and right but thats about it. Granted, both my engine ground are moutned to the same place. The OEM and my 0gauge additional ground. Tightened that ground up. let her run for 45 minutes (i took her around inbetween) turned the air on, everything. only thing i found tho was a small oil leak after running, maybe a drop or 2, by the crank iirc next to a sensor. that aside, my oil pressure feels a bit low and my powersteering might be a bit low so i bought both. otherwise, she ran fine and strong.... as usual -_-''..... i bought some gumout to see if i can clean out the fuel but in all honesty, im stumped. but now i think im gonna clean the EGR IAC and throttle body this coming weekend. and hopefully good things will come from that :)

Little update. Drove her to work today. I have huge OCD with my driving so im constantly watching my battery(because with my previous system it would dip into the 10-11v area) my gas RPM etc. Now, heres the big thing i saw. while driving, my oil pressure is varying from 20-37 psi. NO i do not mean, 20 at stops, i mean it fluctuates while accelerating, dropping then coming back up, all while accelerating. but thats all I observed. I mean, she felt sluggish and came alive when the oil pressure went up, and the pedal felt harder than usual to accelerate. Is that strange? like up to 2000 to 2500 rpm (basing this on how hard you press the pedal) its easy but afterward you gotta actually push on er. any opinions on any of that?

unknown at this time.
get a oil pressure tester and test the line pressure to determine if the the sender is fouling up. it also acts as a fuel pump switch in the 96-97 models.

Been driving her. No issues thus far aside from the oil pressure being lower than usual. otherwise, shes driving great. my father has a oil pressure tester IIRC so im gonna ask em to help me out with that.

thanks :D
