Hello,

Spoke to the dealer today, still waiting on a Premier we ordered in early December which won't go into production until constraints are lifted in march. Then we play the allocation game.

I asked the dealer today to add the power retractable steps to my order and they are telling me the factory says they're not available along with a bunch of other features not making it.

Anyone else run into the same issue on the retractable steps?

Would this be the same if I switched my order to high country?

Most likely, retractable steps are not standard on any trim level. I think only model with standard retractable’s of the Tahoe, Yukon, esky is the highest Escalade trim

We love the steps. We have a 2021 premier Received it in may of 21. We also order it with every option. Zero problems, you have to have the retractable steps with lighting.

wait until this happens….motor went out (thought it was air ride issues at first). bought the AT4 in December of 2020 and has almost 40k on it

Stuff happens....There are probably thousands and thousands of sets of these that have gone 100K plus miles with no problems. The more mechanical stuff you hang on a vehicle the more likely hood that something will go wrong...

These steps are very handy and worth whatever potential problems they may or may not cause...

Yes - step motor went out. unplugged it to stop the noise as it was consistently doing it in the same intervals in the video whenever the vehicle was in motion - which is odd (guessing it thought the step was down and needed to be raised since the vehicle was moving?). wife wasn't too keen on it after driving it for 20 mins like this - and no codes/warning lights - just the geese

agree that things happen - guess we just expected a slightly better "reliability" experience even with a first year redesign

have had it a year and its been in for issues 17x (think one dealer we're at 14 or 15 visits and another was 2 or 3) - the whole bring it in, diagnose it, have no clue so we'll contact you when we get an idea (that was the plan on the rear axle module) - idler pulley they were able to fix in one visit

- rear axle module replaced
- airbag light recall
- water trapped in sunroof (this took about 5 months to fix)
- radio screen went out...believe this was an update issue they had to push
- idler pulley went out
- SD card removed message randomly comes on (tried to diagnose this and even after replacing the SD card slot - message still comes on several times a week) - an no we aren't removing the card - ha
- blue tooth speaker(s) has a reverb to it when talking on the phone - its the audio coming in which is odd...to the point its relatively useless now...dealer said they'd have to take the dash off to truly diagnose (think its a cable or something?) - we decided we'd pass on that remedy as we are going to just get out from under it
- now the step motor

Two of those are still issues and could be fixed under warranty even though we are outside the 36k, but the SD card message started in June and we gave up on it getting fixed back in November

Probably just bad luck as our main dealer we've taken it to have just laughed about it saying ours is one of the worst they've dealt with - and really we can only just laugh as well

Back to the steps - to each their own, but with four people getting in/out of the vehicle all the time at different times, someone is always waiting on the step to go back down...its going up when we are getting out as the kids get out first, or they get in first and we are waiting on it to complete the cycle again for it to come back down...the running joke is that we either wait to open the door for the step to go back up or we'll have to close the door for it to recognize that the door has been opened.

If only one person on each side would be in the vehicle I'd probably have a different perspective - but for us, going back to the fixed steps
