I noticed today that the right hinge on my tailgate is coming off the body. It rusted from the inside. It is a 96 hoe. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I never got into body work.

The third pic is with me pushing down on the end of the tailgate. It pushes the hinge back into place.

Gring away all that paint/rust, weld it back together, and repaint to prevent this from happening again.

Grinding the rust away and trying to weld to whats left of the metal wont do you any good. youll have to cut the hinge section off, replace with a section from a junkyard and weld it in...

The rust forming wont support the weld if you even can get a good weld to it.
