Not familiar towing race cars but I primarily tow boats and trailers. Mid-size suvs may be rated to tow a 6000lb boat or 24 foot enclosed four place sled trailer but they absolutely suck at it. Try to get that boat out of the water on all but a perfectly dry flat launch or the 24' sled trailer out an ice covered inclined driveway and I will gaurantee it is a no go. My wifes minivan is rated to tow a couple of snowmobiles on an open flatbed but that does not mean it can do it on ice covered roads when it is snowing 5" per hour.

Maybe towing race cars is easy. I know nothing about it but I considered (for a second) getting something like the new Durango or Cherokee Grand and then hit myself in the head after thinking about having to actually get my 24' trailer to the cabin 275 miles away this winter and while having zero fuel economy advantage with either of the two vehicles mentioned.

The correct answer is only you know your specific requirements for any given vehicle. I looked at almost everything and decided on the 11' Yuk XL without the larger V8 and full time AWD that my 04' Denali XL had (14 daily 8 mpg towing). Tows just as nice and averages 4 mpg's better during daily driving and 20 mpg's long trips (not towing).

Good luck with whatever you decide,

JD

i personally say just change it up and keep it.

a set of CK375s (which you can get new from GM through me ready to bolt on for 2600 shipped) and a blackbear tune will be all that you need.

Not 6 tons ;) Almost 6k lbs....3 tons. A Tahoe is about 5,800lbs. That would be a BIIIIG GMT900! haha

Yeah the Esky has the 6.2L (right?) and full-time AWD. One reason I don't understand this full-time AWD thing in an era where they are trying to get every last MPG. It is good for its size, for sure. I just thought it would be in the 16s. Revised EPA estimates are 14 city, 19 highway, and 16 combined. Trying my best to stay in 4 cyl mode as much as possible 15.3 is my average from March until August. That isn't why I'm thinking about selling though, like I said the smaller Grand Cherokee gets similar mileage because it is AWD. I was refering to the fact that the much more fun to drive TBSS gets about the same and it has AWD and a yummy LS2. I wish the TBSS has selectable 4wd and 4 cyl mode!

Oh important to mention the TBSS wants 93 octane and the Tahoe is happy on 87.

Chances are I will keep her, they are great trucks, but just talking it out.

this is a lot to consider alone
