Can I change the speed at which my lock up comes on.
2004 Tahoe 5.3 AWD 3.73, I drive alot of 35-45 MPH roads with slight inclines. The darn TCC locks up at 40 in D and wants to lug up hills, I thought these newer GM's were smarter than that. constantly in and out of lock-up.
Do I need a performance program for the powertrain control unit. What's the least expensive way to eliminate this problem? Or just drive in 3 all the time?
Thanks in advance.

EFI live or HP tuners can adjust that.

When the trans "hunts" and im running a stock tune i just drop it into 3rd, lots easier on the trans.

A Ratio TeK shift kit will fix this problem also.

Sifting into 3ed helps a decent amount. If you have some money and a little time invest in a Black Bear tune. Great investment!
