The Temp/Compass in the rear view stopped working. Is there anything I can do or check?

Considering the age of the truck, open up the fuse panel in the dash, unbolt it and from behind, make sure that all the wires are fully seated in the fuse block and see if that helps. If it doesn't, do the same with the main fuse block under the hood. (after checking all the fuses of course). With the age of the vehicle, it is quite possible that the wires in the main harness under the hood or in the fuse block in the dash have worked their way loose to cause that glitch.

If I recall it's a common problem, and you can open it up and re solder some joints and it fixes it

what Yukon said. Mine when I got it wouldn't work at all. I noticed one of the pins was sticking out so I pushed it back in and started working again. So far so good for me. Especially since my soldering skills are not pretty

Was that on the fuse box end or towards the mirror where you had to fox the wires. Mine turns on and off a lot at random.

Does your mirror compass go dim before it shuts off or does it just shut off?

Mine just cuts off and on completely. I notice when it's hot outside.

Here is what I've noticed on my 04. It 'appears' the screen is blank, but it's really not. Is the green light on the lower face of the mirror on? Does it still autodim? If yes, then you have power to the mirror. What is going on with mine is the case of the mirror has loosened up with age and is allowing the LCD display to back away from the back side face of the mirror. If I squeeze the mirror case on the right side where the display is, the display magically re-appears. It does seem like when it is hot outside, the problem is more pronounced.

I've thought about trying a little super glue or other plastic glue to the mirror case on the right side and using a squeeze clamp to hold it in place while the glue sets up.

Mine is completely different. It. Just turns off completely. No loose wires. It will flash on and off with no rhym or reason. For what it's worth my heated seat turns on randomly when this starts acting up too.

It happened to my Tahoe after my son messed moved the passenger seat all the way forward and also tilted it forward. It pinched some wires under the passenger seat and I was able to fix it by disconnecting and reconnecting all of the jacks.
