Is there any way to test a MAF?

I have a sneaky suspicion mine is taking a crap. I've installed a K&N filter about 8 months ago, and now it's getting harder and harder to start.
I've checked my fuel pressures and leakdown rate, and they seem fine.

Is there a way to test this thing? Can a place like Autozone/Advance autoparts do it?

They have MAF testers, but you could also rent a scan tool from AutoZone and see all the details about your motor while you start it and as it's running.

Scan tool wouldn't help me much, as I don't know what kind of values I need to be looking for. I don't get any engine codes either.

So your saying Autozone (usually) has a bench test setup for MAF sensors?

I don't know if AZ has a bench top tester. I know handheld ones exist, not sure if AZ has them.

As a test, try starting the truck with it unplugged. I know people have diagnosed bad MAFs by unplugging them and seeing if a rough idle smooths out, might work in your case as well.

I work for autozone and they don't have a way to test maf sensors, or at least not in Lubbock but like snowjay said try running it unplugged and see if it makes a difference
