the infamous "gas gauge problems" thread

so I figured those of us with this problem are at least a dime a dozen. so with that said, post here info such as how do you calculate you MPG? any tricks you know to fix or rig to make work? or just get on here a gripe about how you ran out of gas...

Calculating MPG has nothing to do with the gas gauge. Just fill up, reset trip odometer, next time you fill up again, divide miles by gallons it took to fill up second time. My vibrating needle is annoying, but no big deal. I also notice the needle goes down about 1/16- 1/8 a tank when I turn on the lights lmao!
