Installed my Improved Racing thermostatic trans outlet and the smaller Derale 10-row instead of the TruCool 40k.

Hard to say if it’s “better” since it’s been under 40° here for quite a while.

I will say, with the 40k installed, sans radiator loop, I wasn’t even achieving 100° trans temps on my way to work. Now I’m able to achieve 170°, allowing for moisture to evaporate from the ATF.

Once it warms up in May, I’ll know whether the Derale is enough to keep up with high ambient temps and a 3200 rpm stall.

I have a Derale in my setup with a 3k converter, and it works great. Trans gets warm enough but never hot. Stays under 200°

Which one?

This one is rated 20k BTU.

I’m hesitant to believe it will keep up. Around town driving I’m already climbing over 200°. It drops rapidly once there is airflow over the cooler, but any type of stop and go stuff raises it quickly.

I’m going to order some stainless braided line and re-route the lined once I get some time. Currently they are routed past the exhaust on the driver’s side with heat sleeve over them, and I think that’s a contributing factor.

You may need to tune the electric fans to kick on earlier like @ 180*.
