The other Ford F150 was a 1985 beater. Also a 2wd. This is a 2006 with 136k miles. Fine shape. Recent work I did was fluids and new plugs and coils to fix a couple cylinder misfires. Will transfer plugs and coils to new engine.

I'm tracking now. That was the one with the nasty brake fluid and master cylinder stuff.

Make sure to transfer the fluids over too. Save a few dollars.

He is going to get $2200 back for the engine and transmission cores. Withe the total labor and all fluids and oil filter and heater hoses to match up and miscellaneous it will all be just under $16k. The truck is in immaculate shape. Is a 4x4 and has owned all but 2 years. Meets his needs, insurance is inexpensive, he just sold travel trailer that he no longer wanted and that money will take care of all but about $1k of the costs. If he bought used, he has no idea of the condition and trucks with 136k miles on them are not cheap in the area. He does not want new.

My Tahoe is in great shape and if it needed an engine or transmission, I would do it too. He does not want to take the chance of the likely damage to the heads caused by the problems this engine has. He wants to get a fresh engine and has the money for the transmission and that 1/2 ton transmission has been towing around a 27 foot travel trailer for a few years. IMO, he is smart, with all the liberal governments out here pushing for the EV vehicles. I think that alone is going to drive prices up on used ICEs.

I was thinking it was a bit of a beater. But I'm probably confusing it with another Ford truck you've mentioned. I get it, though. Mine is only two years newer and I'd replace the engine and/or trans as needed before getting something else. Well, maybe not if I had to pay someone else to do it. But, apples to oranges...

I am saving for a new engine install for mine. My guy is telling me 10K installed with lifetime warranty and a free loaner vehicle while mine is in surgery. I am about halfway there. Once that is accomplished the transmission fund will be next.

Better get that in writing Paw Paw--and definitely read the fine print!

Ok, got the 2007 Lexus RX350 here last night and saw a large oil leak coming down and then got on ramps this morning. Turned out was spewing oil out under pressure at a pinhole of one of the hoses for the oil cooler lines. There is a new design with all metal and flexible tubes. 2 new gaskets. Removed old set up. Had to use a female torx, E8, to remove a stud for reinstall and then reinstall stud. Cleaned underneath, topped off oil, engine rattles went away, changed oil filter, checked and cleared codes and wiped down as best I could and reinstalled the splash shields. Not gonna list all definitions but had 6 codes: P0011, P0014, P0015, P0017, P0021 and P0024. All had to do with camshafts, crankshaft, advance and retard bank 1 and bank 2.

In the first pic, vehicle on tow truck in Silverton, Or. Second pic is of the bright new metal shiny part that I could catch with my cell. The next, if you look close, you can see the hose hole/slit/rupture next to the white mark.

My cousin ripped me a new one because I dropped a crate engine in my 96 Silverado and kept the same radiator. At that point, I might as well of just reused the fluids lol.

I was a broke 20ish year old that spent all his money on a crate engine and nothing else.
