Lol I thought about going to Texas and picking up a motor and putting it in myself but then I asked myself what type of warranty do I want? They quoted me $1,780 with a 3yr warranty. I spent the extra money. I figured like $200 a year for the warranty. If I picked up a long block for about $1,200.00 and get 1yr warranty if I put it in. Shipped the motor was $1,500 from Texas. After thinking about what I was going to do for about a month I just dropped it off and said FIX the stupid thing! I was frustrated just like you are now!

I was looking at that option also but my question was do you have to beef up the suspension to handle the extra weight? It would def fit and bolt up. You would need the harness and comp. I think the tranny is also a 4l80E and ours comes with the 60E. I also wondered if you had to move the motor mounts? It would be bad ass fo sure!

quick question.....will a 454 out of a 96 fit the tahoe. it came out of a suburban

Yeah it'll fit, you'll need mods to get it all to work. There is a guy over at performance trucks that stuff a 454 into his Tahoe. It's green and lowered.

His name is James B here's a link to a thread he posted some pics in:

They are pics of a long bar setup, something I wanted to do to mine. :D

So I talked to the guys who are rebuilding my motor about an hour ago and bad news but I guess it will be good that all the parts will be new! The crank shaft is trash, both heads are cracked(never overheated) and distributer gear is bad also. I took them a new oil & water pump when I dropped it off. It's up to $2,400 now.
