When you got the bolts extracted and replaced, did you or the shop you took it to replace the header gasket?

The manifold/header gasket should always be replaced if it was leaking. Maybe if you noticed it immediately which is unlikely since it usually starts leaking before it can be heard. Either way i would say the gasket should be replaced regardless.

Broken header bolts on the 6.2? Is this a known problem? When I had my exhaust put in a few weeks ago the shop informed me that I had a broken header bolt and a leak on the other side from a bad gasket. The truck has 102K miles so I thought it was just normal wear. Any more info on this?

I had the rear bolt on the passenger side missing its head on my 07. There was plenty to grab on to with vise grips, though. Got it out this past weekend and all is well.

Not sure if it's all LS series engines but the last generation 5.3 and 6.0 also had this problem. My 07 also has a leak and a broken bold which is going to be a PITA to extract and replace, driver's side rear most bolt.

Mine only leaks when cold, after it warms up it stops making that "junk sounding vehicle" noise.

I may make replacing all the bolts my summer project.
